One week in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand
(March 25 - April 8)
- Helping people of the Karen tribe: Originating from animalistic and ancestorial worship, the tribe is mixed of different religions from Burma, India and China. They own no land as they used to be nomads, meaning they would move place to place without settling in. They are poor as they are not recognized as official citizens of Thailand by their government and are treated as exiles. Often, women and children are sold into sex trafficking either for financial needs or simply because they are forced to. As marginalized people, they are not even seen as human - considered to have no rights, no minimum wage, and therefore it becomes an honour to them to be able to service and earn money in the sex industry. Although people of the Karen tribe value hard work and are very family-oriented, they easily turn back to their old traditional worshipping as true repentance declines along with Christianity. Although spiritual, they are very fearful of evil spirits which calls upon praying for the presence of God to come into the tribe and rid of their victim mentality.
- 85% Buddhism, ~0.7% Christianity. Christians are viewed as pushy and aggressive.

OUTREACH IN PHILIPPINES |
"Camp Lokahi"
A youth camp for the Filipino youth from the slums to be released from their orphaned spirits and poverty-striken mindsets. Lokahi means "unity", and its triangle symbol represents the relationship between God, the land, and its people.
'Slum kids that wouldn't dare to dream about a visit to the beach are gathered for a week by the oceanside to experience the heart of God, without worrying about paying for a penny. Some kids travel an hour, some travel eight - they gather in the mornings and evenings to hear a local Fillipino speak on the character of God, His heart for them and the gospel of Jesus Christ in their own language. With team competitions throughout the day, they experience different cultures. As they learn the importance of God's heart for redeeming cultures for His Kingdom, they also learn to appreciate their own.
For a lot of them, this will be the first time they enjoy the ocean as we give them time to enjoy it each day of the camp. With times of worship, opportunities to serve one another, group discussions, and where God meets them individually and personally - others meet Jesus for the first time as their Saviour, Lord, Father, and Friend.'
"God in Naga City"
Naga is a city in the Bicol Region of the Philippines which is the largest city in terms of tourism, business, finance, and economy. Due to Its flourishing business combined with its history of Spanish colonial period in 1573 as well as the American colonial in 1919, there are high rates of prostitution and consumerism culture. Wherever there is American colonization, prostitution is introduced.
"Haiyan Typhoon Relief"
Haiyan Typhoon hit the Philippines on Thursday 7, November - causing a casualty close to 10,000, and displacing over 90,000 from their homes. Because of the pure magnitude of the impact, the infrastructure is damaged to the point that it makes complete recovery almost impossible to be achieved. One of the most important resources required to rebuild its infrastructure is clean water, as it is a large factor of rising cases of diarrhoea, infections, viruses, and water-borne diseases.
We will be providing and distributing portable and clean water filtration systems to the community in order to establish easy access to safe water in large amounts. It is similar to what this website entails: http://www.wavesforwater.org/ as well as supporting the community with mental and spiritual health, and manual labour for cleaning up/ building houses and community centers.
*When you donate, you will be funding for the transportation, housing, food, and ministry supplies that are required for outreach.
